Fencing will make your child agile, brave and strong.

Fencing is one of the most difficult and highly coordinated sports. Sports fencing is a champion among all sports in terms of the requirements for reactive activity of skeletal muscles and the nervous system. Simply put, there is no sport that would require more reaction and greater speed of movement, recruited simultaneously. If the sprinter develops a constant speed while running for 100 meters, with which it is difficult to compare something, then the fencer develops a speed of movement that is 15–20 times higher than the speed of movement in the space of the sprinter!
Why is fencing useful?

Accordingly, the requirements for the development of physical qualities of fencers are unusually high and much higher than in other contact sports and martial arts. The speed of reaction that the fencers are seeking is even higher than that to which the fighters of the eastern martial arts strive, although here it can be argued. But at the same time a logical question arises: is it worth it to engage in the same sword to a person at an age that is no longer considered Olympic? Indeed, starting from 25–27 years, the reaction rate and the reactivity of the muscles of the body begin to rapidly decrease, and it is very difficult to deal with this effect, at least for this you need to make constant efforts.

Why is fencing useful?

Fencing is not determined solely by extremely fast performance. Both the Olympic Games and international fencing tournaments were regularly won by athletes who took with high-quality equipment and strategy. Fencing, as one of the best fencers noted, is chess, which is played at the speed of thought. Indeed, the determining skill is the ability to predict the movements of the enemy, “read” his strategy, his motor stereotypes and stereotypes of thinking in order to use them to his advantage in a duel. And in order to conduct such an analysis, as a rule, a few seconds and the first few movements are given – and then a swift attack. The strategy of fencing is studied very carefully and about the same number of works is devoted to it as chess openings.
Why is fencing useful?

Moreover, fencing requires careful muscle stretching and high flexibility and joint mobility. And joint mobility is the key to longevity! Accordingly, constant moderate exercise in this sport allows, until very old age, to maintain a very high level and quality of life of the body, excellent response and liveliness of mind. Training attention, will, and the ability to control the body to the smallest detail makes fencing one of the best sports to preserve youth and longevity.

Today, fencing has several directions: sports, stage, historical and combat.

Stage fencing is a compulsory discipline in theatrical universities, because artists often have to play martial arts using edged weapons in cinema and theater productions.

The historical direction – sword fighting – began to develop relatively recently. Holding competitions in this type of fencing rests solely on the enthusiasm of participants in several historical and social movements, since it is a traumatic sport.

In combat fencing, cold steel is used – a stick and a knife, and it is of interest, as a rule, to adults who already have various types of martial arts.

But the sports direction – high-speed power sport – can be practiced by children from 6–8 years old. But not earlier, since fencing requires a good reaction and tactical thinking, which develops in children gradually. Possessing these qualities, any child over 6–8 years old can begin training.

Differences between Sports and Stage Fencing
